The Punjab Government on Wednesday, May 05, 2021, declared that owing to the growing number of Covid cases in the province, there will be a complete lockdown during the occasions of Eid-ul-fitar — from May 8 to 16 May.

The following news has been taken by Geo News, the choice was taken during a meeting chaired by the Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid.

The Government of Punjab stated that during the holiday period, all daily affairs will be disallowed in the province, while there will be a ban on public transportation. Other than that, all parks and sporting spots in the city will also be closed.

The provincial government said that checkpoint spots will be set up at all the entry and leave points of the city, where police, Rangers, and armed force staff will be deployed to monitor the situation.

“To control the Covid situation in the province, the coming 20 days are critical,” Dr. Rashid said, adding that the government is employing efforts to control the spread of the infection.

She focused on that owing from the third wave of the virus, people should celeberate Eid ul Fitr in a simple way, adding that people should follow the government’s commanded Covid standard working technique (SOPs) and prove themselves to be responsilbe citizens.

Pakistan reports more than 4,000 new cases of coronavirus during the previous 24 hours

Without any indications of the Covid pandemic going away anytime soon, Pakistan revealed 4,113 new Covid cases, raising the all-out cases count to 841,636 across the country.
